April 15, 2014: The Story of the Day
April 15, 2014 was another poignant day for the Hillsborough families and survivors, as the city of Liverpool and beyond came to a standstill to mark the 25th anniversary of the disaster.
At Anfield, more than 26,000 people flocked to be part of the annual memorial service, laying tributes at the Shankly Gates before filing into all four corners of the stadium to pay their respects to the 96.
Across Stanley Park, in a show of continued support, Everton opened the doors to Goodison Park in order to screen the service live. At 3.06pm a minute's silence was observed across the city.
Elsewhere, Sheffield and Nottingham held their own services, while clubs from around the world were represented on the Anfield turf, where thousands of scarves donated by supporters were arranged to form the number '96'.
Our clip below gives the story of another emotional day from start to finish.
