Sterling and Suarez close to landmarks

Suarez requires one more strike to equal the record for most goals in a 38-game Barclays Premier League season. Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers) in 1995-96 and Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) in 2007-08 both scored 31.

The Liverpool No.7 has now scored the same number of goals for the club as Fernando Torres did - 81. The Uruguayan reached that tally in 130 games, Torres in 142.

Suarez has scored two or more goals in a league game nine times this season; only Roger Hunt (13 in 1961-62) and Gordon Hodgson (10 in 1930-31) have achieved the feat more often.

The Reds need four goals from their remaining three games to record 100 in the league for only the second time in their history and the first since 1895-96.

Only one other team has achieved the feat in the Premier League - Chelsea scored 103 in 2009-10.

Last Sunday, Brendan Rodgers' team set a club record of scoring 58 first-half goals in a league season, beating the 56 netted by the Reds in 1895-96.

The Reds have won 15 league games in front of the Kop this season. The last time they won 16 at home was in 1985-86.

Indeed, Liverpool have won the same number of league games at Anfield this season as they did in the previous two full seasons put together.

If Sterling scores, it will be his 10th league goal of the campaign. The last time the Reds had four league scorers reach double figures was in 1985-86 - when Ian Rush scored 22, Molby 14, Paul Walsh 11 and Ronnie Whelan 10.

Chelsea have won 12 and drawn one of their last 13 Premier League games played on a Sunday and have won the last 10 in a row.

The Londoners have played 10 games immediately after Champions League ties this season and are unbeaten, winning nine and drawing one. They have won all five when returning from an away tie.

Of the Blues' six league defeats this season, only one has been by more than one goal - a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle United on November 2.
