Stats: The vital facts on the final day

Liverpool have won 22 and lost nine of their 39 Barclays Premier League matches against the Geordies, and the Reds are unbeaten in the last 18 Anfield league clashes with the Magpies, winning 15.

In the last 15 league meetings home and away between these two sides, Liverpool have won 10 and lost three, scoring in 14 of those games.

There has not been a goalless draw in the last 57 league clashes, since February 1974 on Tyneside, while at Anfield there has been only one game that failed to produce a goal in the last 51 league and cup meetings - in February 1970.

Liverpool have scored 82 goals against Newcastle in the Premier League - more than they have achieved against any other team. The 126 struck by both sides in their meetings, meanwhile, is the most in any Reds fixture in this era, along with Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool's biggest Anfield league victory over today's opponents occurred in August 1967, with the Reds winning 6-0. Seven Kopites have notched hat-tricks for the club against the Geordies.

The Reds have not lost any of their last 10 final day fixtures at Anfield, and Brendan Rodgers' team go into this encounter having lost just one of their previous 18 league games.

These sides have met three times on the final day of the season: in 1909, Liverpool won 1-0 on Tyneside; in 1969, they drew 1-1 in the North East; in 2004, another 1-1 stalemate ensued, this time at Anfield.

Liverpool are one goal short of recording 100 league goals for the season - a feat achieved only once previously in the club's history - they netted 106 in 1895-96. The current total of 99 has been bettered by only 15 of the previous 114 top-flight title-winning teams.

A win today would give the Reds their best ever Premier League goal difference. It is currently +50, the same as at the conclusion of the 2008-09 campaign.

Luis Suarez has scored 31 league goals for Liverpool this season. Only three men have ever scored more in a campaign - Roger Hunt hit 41 in 1961-62, Gordon Hodgson fired 36 in 1930-31, and Ian Rush netted 32 in 1983-84.

Should the Uruguayan score twice, he will move into joint-seventh place on the club's list for most goals in a season in all competitions. A hat-trick, meanwhile, would give the No.7 a share of the most goals in a single Premier League season - Alan Shearer and Andy Cole hold the record with 34.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew has recorded two wins in his 12 clashes with Liverpool as a manager, both with Newcastle, in a career that has also included spells in charge at Charlton Athletic and West Ham United.

Lucas Leiva's only league goal for Liverpool came against Newcastle in a 3-0 win in May 2009, while Glen Johnson scored the first league goal of his professional career against the same side in November 2003 during a 5-0 Chelsea home victory.

The travellers have had a player sent off in each of their last three clashes with the Reds, namely Fabricio Coloccini and Mathieu Debuchy last season, and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa last October.
