View from Newcastle: Nothing like the Kop

Dan, how are Newcastle fans feeling ahead of the game?

Just glad there's only one more game left in this soul-sapping season. Last season when we came to Anfield we had genuine hopes of finally getting that long-awaited win, but there's absolutely no chance that will happen today. It's going to be a case of watching through our finger tips hoping for damage limitation so we can get on with whatever this summer holds for us.

What's been your view on how Liverpool have performed this season?

You've been absolutely brilliant to watch. I think the first-half of the Arsenal demolition was one of the best Premier League performances I've ever seen and there's something thrilling about just watching a top team get blown away by sheer purpose and positivity. Not many people would have even had you in with a chance of the top four at the start of the season, so to be in with a chance - mathematically at least - of winning the title in the final game is testament to how well you have done. Brendan Rodgers has worked a miracle and would be my bet for manager of the year.

What's been your impression of the Reds' home displays and the atmosphere at Anfield in recent months?

Phenomenal. I've loved watching the banners, scarves and fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone at the start of each game, getting louder each time as that incredible run went on. There's nothing quite like the sight of the Kop before a big game and it would be great to see similar scenes at St James' Park. Like I said, the Arsenal performance was brilliant but equally in the games against Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, you completely overawed the opposition. It's just a shame those tactics didn't work against Chelsea.

Can you give us an overview of Newcastle's season so far?

To outsiders, it may seem like a decent season for us as we sit comfortably in ninth and have barely been outside the top 10 all season. It's been an improvement on last season, when we came very close to being relegated, but it could have been so much better. The first half of the campaign was better than we could have imagined and we got some amazing results, but we've completely let ourselves down in 2014. We could have been pushing for Europe, but after we sold Yohan Cabaye, we just lost all ambition and our season effectively ended after the Sunderland game at the start of February. Our fans have had to watch some poor performances, particularly in the two Sunderland games, but also against Everton (both times), Manchester United at home, Spurs at home and Arsenal away. In too many games, as soon as we have conceded a second goal we have gone on to lose 4-0 and it just shows that our players have lacked heart. The likes of Cisse and Ben Arfa appear to have gone backwards, we've broken a lot of unwanted records - the 6-0 defeat at SJP to you lot last year, losing three games against Sunderland for the first time since the 1920s and six straight defeats in the Premier League for the first time being just some of these. But other than that, everything is just rosy!

In terms of the game itself, who will be the one to watch from a Newcastle perspective?

Tim Krul, because something tells me he's going to be a busy boy...

Luis Suarez has scooped awards left, right and centre this season, so taking him out of the equation - who are the two Liverpool players you'd most like to see in black and white tomorrow?

I would always have said Steven Gerrard and he remains my favourite Liverpool player. I'd say Daniel Sturridge because he's vastly underrated and has shown just how good he is with a great goalscoring record since he arrived. Raheem Sterling is also everything I would want in a Newcastle player - he's quick, tricky, has an eye for goal and isn't afraid to have a go. He's going to be a star.

Anything upwards of four goals without reply for Liverpool.
