Kuyt: 'Amazing' Reds should be proud
Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has paid a special tribute to his old club for the 'great job' produced in securing second place and Champions League football for next season.
Brendan Rodgers oversaw a marvellous campaign for the Reds, who clocked up more than a century of Barclays Premier League goals and pushed the race for the championship to the final day.
The Dutchman departed Anfield in the summer of 2012 following half-a-dozen memorable years on Merseyside, scooping the League Cup before his stay ended with a move to Fenerbahce.
But he keenly observed the fortunes of his previous employers throughout their surge and believes that Steven Gerrard and co can take genuine pride from their achievements.
"Liverpool had an incredible season, they have done a great job," Kuyt told Sky Sports. "To manage to get a Champions League spot for next year is amazing.
"As a supporter of Liverpool, I was very sad to not see them be champions this season. But the lads have done a great job and they can be proud of themselves."
