Daniel Sturridge revealed the pre-match pep talk he received from his mother prior to netting his first-ever World Cup finals goal against Italy on Saturday.
The Liverpool striker took to the field with the words 'mash it up, son' ringing in his ears following a chat with his mum - and he duly went on to net a fine goal in England's narrow 2-1 defeat.
