USA Soccer School success for LFC
Liverpool Football Club didn't just enjoy a successful pre-season tour of the United States on the pitch this summer - the club's official Soccer School programme also hosted two thriving camps for youngsters over the course of the two-week trip.
Five-day programmes for children aged five to 16 years were held in Boston and Charlotte and both received an incredible response from those taking part.
Each day of the programmes was themed around a current Liverpool player, and those involved were taught the same techniques that are used at the club's Academy such as passing, shooting, dribbling and turning.
Players also took part in four-skills challenges and, on the final day of each camp, participated in a mini tournament.
There was another special treat as Kop legend Ian Rush and official club mascot, Mighty Red, were invited to the closing presentations to hand out the medals.
Head of LFC Soccer Schools, Dan White, commented: "This was a fantastic opportunity for our coaches to bring the Liverpool Way to the players attending the courses in Boston and Charlotte.
"We experienced a lot of enthusiastic youngsters who were eager to develop their games and take on board the concepts and advice that the coaches were passing on at the soccer schools.
"We had a great time delivering this project and take a lot of pride and satisfaction from the progress made with the players.
"The support we received from players, coaches and LFC fans in these two cities was fantastic and shows just what a special club we are honoured to represent."
LFC International Academy Soccer Schools have affiliate junior clubs around the world, including both Texas and Massachusetts, that the club work with all year round. For more information, click here.
