'Mario may become an icon for the fans'
John Aldridge is confident that Brendan Rodgers will find the right way to get the best out of both Daniel Sturridge and new signing Mario Balotelli, who he believes could develop into an icon.
The former Manchester City and AC Milan striker became the latest new arrival at the club this week, joining on a long-term deal as the Reds' ninth recruit of the summer transfer window.
A legendary former Anfield goalscorer himself, Aldridge expects Liverpool's attacking line-up to be a force to be reckoned with this season.
"He provides another option and we've got a lot of games this season, so Brendan has plenty of options now," he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"The manager will have a plan. It could be Balotelli going through the middle with Daniel playing off him or out wide, as he did to great effect last season.
"He could be phenomenal and he's the type of player who will be endearing to the fans. He could be iconic."
