'Let's take big step towards title'

The win over Notts County in our last game was a big three points for us. It was also great to see Katie Zelem make an impact off the bench by coming on and scoring the winner.

What pleased me most was we didn't get frustrated and just resort to long balls - we kept playing our passing, probing game. We began to create chances and we took the one that mattered, which was the most important thing.

The result on Sunday also went our way on with Arsenal winning at Birmingham so we are in a good place going into Thursday night's derby.

We held an open training session on Monday when the supporters came down to watch the players train and hopefully they enjoyed it. Our supporters are brilliant. I've said that numerous times on Twitter and in my programme notes. They really are fantastic and create a great atmosphere, which gives the girls a lift when they need it. This season, teams have tended to sit back and try to frustrate us, making it difficult for us to break them down, so the support we have received has helped us massively.

We have four games left and there is no room for error now. We've got to win those four games and if we can do that then I think we will have a great chance of retaining our title.

We face Everton on Thursday in Widnes and we know how hard a game it is going to be. League positions don't matter in these games because it is a derby and Everton have got some very good players. For whatever reason, they haven't had much luck in their league campaign but they have done well in the cup competitions, so we've got to make sure that we are fully prepared.

I've never experienced a derby like the Merseyside one with regards to the intensity of the game. When I was at Chelsea we played against Arsenal but it was nowhere near the same. It's physical, aggressive and played at a high tempo but form does go out of the window.

The race for the title is going right to the wire and will no doubt mirror last season's close run in. We worked hard to win the title last year and this time around we have overcome a lot of hurdles to get here. I have told the players in training that they deserve an enormous amount of credit for getting us back into this position because, if I'm being totally honest, when we lost at Manchester City I thought that was it, but mentally the players are a strong group and we are in a good place going into this run-in.
