Lazar Markovic paid a special visit to Wavertree Aquatics Centre on Thursday night to delight local youngsters as part of the Liverpool FC Foundation community football session.

The Reds No.50 was joined by Liverpool Ladies star Amanda Da Costa as they took part in a warm-up and some skills techniques with a group of youngsters at their weekly coaching session.

After the warm up and drills, the children were spilt into groups and tasked with showcasing the skills they had learnt in the session.

Markovic, who also awarded certificates to the players at the end of the session alongside Da Costa, said: "It was great to see Liverpool's Foundation work and have the opportunity to see first-hand what it does in the local community. I really enjoyed getting involved and it’s fantastic to be a part of the Liverpool family."

LFC’s Foundation coaches provide six community football development sessions each week, which are delivered across three hubs in Wavertree, Rainhill and Anfield.

Aimed at boys and girls aged between four and 18, the sessions are open for all young people to attend.

Mark Haig, head of operations at Liverpool FC Foundation, said: "Our community football development sessions engage with more than 300 young people each week in Liverpool and offer important sporting opportunities that help to inspire positive change.

"It's great to see one of our new players and a Ladies player taking time out and getting involved in our football programme."
