Brendan Rodgers believes recent history proves that his Liverpool players can show the resilience to immediately recover from the disappointment of defeat by Aston Villa at the weekend.

The Reds dominated possession and territory throughout the 90 minutes against the Midlands outfit but were undone by an early Gabriel Agbonlahor goal and resolute defending.

A busy fortnight of football, in three different competitions, demands that the side bounce back in a matter of days, with Champions League duties kicking off on Tuesday.

The manager is confident, however, that Liverpool are well equipped to raise performance levels and secure the right result when Ludogorets Razgrad visit Merseyside.

"This is a group that has shown over the time that I've been here that we have to get over disappointment and move to the next game," Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com.

"We have to move on. Our focus now goes straight to Tuesday night.

"It will be a wonderful occasion for us to be back in Champions League football and hopefully getting over [the Villa result] by getting a win in the first group game."
