FIFA executive committee member, Moya Dodd, paid a very special visit to Anfield on Saturday to witness local girls showcasing their football skills at a Liverpool FC Foundation coaching session.

More than 30 young female players from across Merseyside took part in the club charity's football session at Anfield Sports and Community Centre, which highlighted the very best talent from the FA Girls Programme.

The FA Girls Programme, which is funded by the Premier League and Liverpool FC Foundation, aims to increase access to high quality football coaching for females and increase overall engagement in the game.

Liverpool Ladies defender, Becky Easton, was also in attendance to take part in the coaching session and host a Q and A session with all the participants.

Simon Morgan, head of community development at the Premier League said: "This visit is the opportunity for Liverpool to showcase the commitment that the Premier League and our clubs' are making to promote football participation opportunities for girls.

"We are very proud that over 9,000 girls have taken part during the first year of the programme."

The Foundation currently engages with more than 200 girls through 12 weekly sessions delivered by community coaches across Merseyside.

Mark Haig, head of operations at the Foundation, said: "It was great to meet Moya and introduce her and Ian to our young participants.

"We are really proud of the provision we provide to females across Merseyside and it was fantastic to be able to show her how this programme helps to engage with them and develop both their talent and confidence."
