BR: Moreno and Javi love life in Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers has praised the desire and ability of Liverpool's marauding full-backs, Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo, insisting the pair are settling seamlessly into life on Merseyside.
Kopites have warmed quickly to the Spanish duo, who arrived from La Liga in the summer and have made an immediate mark for the Reds throughout 2014-15 so far.
Signed from Sevilla in August, Moreno debuted against Manchester City at the Etihad before racing across the White Hart Lane turf six days later to rifle home a spectacular strike against Tottenham Hotspur.
He was then impressive during the 2-1 victory over Ludogorets Razgrad on Tuesday night at Anfield, in a match that was settled by a stoppage-time penalty, converted by Steven Gerrard and earned by the sheer persistence of Manquillo.
The 20-year-old, recruited from Atletico Madrid, raced forward as full-time beckoned, deep into the Kop penalty area, where he was fouled by Milan Borjan, the Ludogorets goalkeeper, allowing Gerrard to seal the win from 12 yards.
Supporters have been buoyed by the instant impact of the new recruits - and Rodgers admitted to a packed press conference at Melwood on Thursday that he too has been equally impressed.
"Both were brought in because they can defend," said the manager. "Young Javi at right-back is only 20 years of age, but he's like a rash. He's all over attackers and he's hard to beat. He gets forward well and he wants to create.
"Young Alberto Moreno is the same. He's 22 years of age. He can defend. He's quick on the recovery and I think everyone has seen his pace and his quality going forward.
"They'll adapt more to this level and the league itself and the physicality of the league, they are only going to get better. But in the meantime, they are two real terrific young guys, who have settled well into the club.
"They are loving their life in Liverpool and they are really enjoying their football. As time goes by, they will improve with that."
