Who better to put your @LFC Twitter questions to Liverpool FC legend Ian Rush than his former goalscoring teammate Robbie Fowler?

Robbie: Morning, Ian!

Rushie: Guten morgen!

Robbie: Right, obviously we've seen the addition of Mario Balotelli. What do you think of Liverpool's new front line now?

Rushie: I think it's exciting. Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli gives you a three-way attack line and I think Brendan can change the way he wants to play. I think it's really exciting for Liverpool supporters.

Robbie: OK then, as an ex-footballer, you've been on some travels over the years. Where would you say your favourite place is to travel?

Rushie: That's a difficult one because we are so lucky to see so many great places but I think anywhere in Asia. I've been to Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, and I think there are great opportunities there.  I think it's about the culture, not just where you're going to. I've been lucky enough to visit India and China too and I think there are some beautiful places in Asia.

Robbie: OK, a little bit off the beaten track here but you scored many goals for Liverpool. Can you describe your first goal?

Rushie: My first goal for Liverpool? I came on as a sub and it was in a European Cup game. I think I had gone seven games without scoring for Liverpool before I came off of the bench and scored just a simple tap in. I scored it in front of the Kop and that was something I will never forget.

Robbie: Good man. Now growing up, I know you scored lots of goals like that other quality Liverpool centre-forward Robbie Fowler. I believe you were an Everton fan when you were growing up - who was your idol

Rushie: I think quite a lot of Liverpool players have been Everton fans but they soon learn to grow up and get a bit of sense! I think my hero back then was Bob Latchford. I used to go and watch him when I was 13 and 14 and he scored 30 goals in one season for Everton.  I think the next striker to do that was me so it was a great privilege to get 30 league goals after my hero.

Robbie: OK, so to the 2005 Champions League final. What were you thinking during half-time?

Rushie: I don't think I can say in public what I was thinking to be honest! I was at the game. I flew there with Steve Morgan and before the game Sky asked me if I would do an interview at half-time with Diego Maradona. I said yes but at half-time I went missing because there was nothing positive I could say about Liverpool. We should have been five-nil down so I think that's the first time I have turned down an interview. For me, it was just really difficult to take in but the supporters at half-time, they were singing - and as soon as Stevie got that goal, the fans felt like something could happen...

Robbie: The toughest player you have ever been up against?

Rushie: Paul McGrath. He was unbelievable. It was 16 or 17 games before I scored against Man United and it was only then because McGrath had joined Aston Villa!

Robbie: I think myself and most Liverpool fans probably know the answer to this, but which team did you enjoy scoring most against?

Rushie: Obviously it was Everton as I supported them as a kid. I had two of my Welsh colleagues in the Everton side, who were probably the best in the world in their positions at the time as well. I was just lucky enough to play in a good team and lucky to score against them.

Robbie: A little bit of a naughty question here, what would your preferred back four be if we had everyone fit

Rushie: I don't think I can say because the manager gets paid to pick the team - not me!

Robbie: I think that's a great answer! Who would be the perfect future candidate to captain Liverpool after Steven retires? Hopefully it won't be for a good few years yet.

Rushie: He's still got a few years left in him but these players will develop over the next couple of years and I think it's not just about performing; it's about off the pitch and in the dressing room.

Robbie: Last question, in your prime, could you run faster than Raheem Sterling?

Rushie: Yeah, because he was only 10 then!

Robbie: And we will finish on that one, thank you!
