Anfield played host to Oulu Palloseura on September 30, 1981 in the European Cup first round, second leg. It was an evening tinged with sadness despite the 7-0 hammering Bob Paisley's side dished out to their Finnish opposition.

The day before the game, news that the great Bill Shankly had passed away brought sorrow to all connected with the club - and during the game against Palloseura, the Kop chanted the Scot's name loud and proud for the entirety of the second half.

It was during that period, in the 67th minute of play, that Rushie, at the tender age of 19, hit the first of his 346 goals for Liverpool, having joined the action as a substitute just three minutes earlier.
