Liverpool Ladies defender Corina Schroder is hoping to use her experience of being a Champions League winner to help the Reds when they embark on their European debut against Swedish side Linkopings.

The German full-back scooped the UEFA Women's Champions League in the 2008-09 season with Duisburg before repeating the feat by winning the competition with FFC Turbine Potsdam the following year.

Matt Beard's side host Linkopings in the first leg of their tie on Wednesday October 8 at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes, with kick-off at 6.30pm BST, and Schroder is dreaming of a hat-trick of Champions League titles.

"I am fortunate enough to have won the competition twice and both occasions were memorable," said Schroder.

"To be a European champion is something that will live with me forever and hopefully I am able to pass on my experience to those Liverpool Ladies players who are yet to experience the competition.

"It is fantastic that Liverpool Ladies will be entering the competition for the first time in the club's history and something we can take great pride from as players.

"It is not just myself but the likes of Becky Easton and Fara Williams who have also played in the UWCL so they will have a vital role to play.

"Players such as Becky and Fara are not just fantastic footballers but also model professionals who lead by example, so their know-how could also be key next week."

Schroder insists Liverpool Ladies will have to be at their best on the night to get a good result to take into the second leg with the Swedes. She added: "We know it will be an extremely difficult game against Linkopings as they have some top-class players in their ranks.

"I recently spoke to a couple of the players at FC Rosengard who, despite being crowned the Swedish league champions recently, were defeated by Linkopings this season.

"We know what an excellent team they are and we will have to be fully prepared if we are to get a positive result to take to Sweden the following week.

"It promises to be a fantastic occasion for the club next Wednesday although our total focus is now on Sunday's massive game with Arsenal Ladies as we try to secure Champions League football for next season."
