Saturday's victory over West Bromwich Albion can act as a springboard for Liverpool's season according to Jordan Henderson, who thrashed in the crucial winner to secure a 2-1 result for the Reds.

Brendan Rodgers' side were searching for an end to a run of three Barclays Premier League fixtures without success, and ultimately did so courtesy of the vice-captain's sweet finish shortly after the hour mark at Anfield.

"This can be a springboard for us," the No.14 later commented. "I think our performances can be better but the three points were vital. This was all about the win."

Adam Lallana had edged the hosts in front seconds before the half-time interval, teed up by Henderson for a precise left-footer. But Saido Berahino drew a foul that was awarded as a penalty and duly smashed it home to equalise.

Yet Henderson had the crucial say on proceedings and now hopes his team can combine that winning feeling with the upcoming return of several injured players to steadily generate higher performance levels.

"Obviously we've missed a couple of big players and when they come back in after the internationals it will be a big boost for us," the Englishman, who joins up with the Three Lions this week, continued.

"Hopefully there will be some big results coming up and we can kick on. We have a lot of quality in the group and things can change very quickly. I don't think we have been poor by any means this season.

"You look at Tottenham away, where we were very good, and we were very good at home to Everton. I felt last week we did enough, we were better than Everton and should have won, but that's football and it's hard sometimes. We had to take that on the chin.

"We are not at the performance level we were last season on a consistent basis but we will get back to that. We have enough quality in the team to get back to where we were and we just have to keep working hard on the training pitch, keep winning games and it will come."
