Adam Lallana believes Liverpool are not 'too far off' regularly producing the kind of attacking verve that Kopites became so accustomed to watching from Brendan Rodgers' team last term.

The No.20 was an integral element of improved displays at Anfield during the past two weekends, as a Merseyside derby victory was snatched away in stoppage time and West Bromwich Albion were beaten.

On an individual level, Lallana took the fans' Man of the Match honour against Everton and then kick-started Saturday's win with a sublime piece of approach play and accurate finish.

While the England international, like 10 of his teammates, is now away on duty for his country, he has reason to expect that the Reds can maintain progress when Barclays Premier League action resumes.

The 26-year-old said: "There's no secret that it's been a tough start for us, but we've had a lot of injuries and with new players coming into the squad it's going to take a little bit of time, myself included.

"But I don't think we're too far off it now. We had a good result at the weekend, which was important going into the international break.

"Sometimes if you don't get that good result, the two weeks can feel like three or four, because you're just desperate to play in the next game. So that was vitally important."
