Jordan Henderson is ready to spend 'many years' at Liverpool, the club he loves, as the vice-captain pledges to let nothing distract him from the challenges ahead on the pitch.

The 24-year-old struck a fine winning goal past West Bromwich Albion on Saturday as the Reds satisfyingly secured a 2-1 victory in the Barclays Premier League at Anfield.

His finish was just rewards for an opening to the campaign that has featured exactly the same levels of commitment and endeavour that Henderson produced so consistently in 2013-14.

It has typified a player who has become such an important member of Brendan Rodgers' set-up on Merseyside and indeed with Roy Hodgson's England camp, where he is currently training.

So, when asked by reporters about the possibility that a new Liverpool contract could be heading his way in the near future, Henderson's focused response perhaps comes as no surprise.

"I am just concentrating on playing football," said the man who has now made 141 appearances for the club. "I am not worried about that.

"I am enjoying my football, I love this club and I want to be here for many years so that shouldn't be an issue."
