Brad Jones has explained how his commitment on a daily basis at Melwood ensures that he will always be ready to step into the goalkeeping breach if called upon by Brendan Rodgers.

The Australian has yet to make an appearance in 2014-15, instead providing dedicated back-up to Simon Mignolet on the substitutes' bench across 10 first-team fixtures so far this season.

That hasn't prevented the stopper from preparing for matches with the mentality that he could be required to play, however - with a spell in the side two seasons ago the proof that chances can arise.

"I have got to be ready when called upon," Jones, who has clocked up 22 games since joining the club in 2010, commented. "I have always done that.

"There was a couple of seasons ago when I got a fair few games and the manager said that was from the work I put in during training."

In addition to his own determination to generate maximum levels for every session in West Derby, the 'keeper pointed to Reds captain Steven Gerrard as the squad's inspirational pace-setter.

Jones said of Liverpool's midfield enforcer: "I don't think I have ever seen him walk around in training.

"He is one of the hardest workers, so when your captain is like that, everyone follows. And it is something that has probably improved a lot of people's game."
