Despite a late 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner of the result and pledged an improvement when Real Madrid roll into town.

The Reds eventually downed the Londoners in dramatic circumstances at Loftus Road, with four strikes registered by the two sides in seven breathless Barclays Premier League minutes as the final whistle neared.

A Richard Dunne own goal midway through the second half appeared to be the decisive contribution until an Eduardo Vargas equaliser prompted substitute Philippe Coutinho to thrash into the far corner from 20 yards to restore the away side's advantage.

Vargas levelled again as the contest drifted into stoppage time. But Brendan Rodgers' charges refused to accept a point and an incisive counter-attack forced another own goal - Steven Caulker the unfortunate culprit this time - and settled the score.

Post-match, Lovren was left to reflect on the unusual feeling of being unhappy after winning, with the Croatian already anticipating an opportunity to produce a much-improved performance in midweek.

The centre-back told Liverpoolfc.com after the final whistle: "It was an unbelievable game. It's the first time in my career that I'm unhappy after a win.

"We could have easily won the game - we had a few chances to finish the game at the end. We made it very difficult for ourselves. The most important thing was the three points. We showed our character and sometimes these games happen.

"We had one minute to win the game and something unbelievable happened. But I'm not satisfied. I think we can be better, everyone can be better. We need to show it in every game.

"We have unbelievable players in the team; I'm sure against Real Madrid on Wednesday we will do much better.

"It's an honour to play in the Champions League. But I don't want to just be there and play, we want to win as well. We need to fight and try to win the game."
