Liverpool's Alberto Moreno has locked horns with Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid twice before - and the full-back has seen two sides to the team that lifted the Champions League trophy in May this year.

Moreno's first experience of Madrid under the Italian was a 7-3 thrashing in October 2013 - a show of sheer attacking force in which Cristiano Ronaldo hit a hat-trick and Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale weighed in with braces.

However, in the season's return fixture in Seville, Moreno featured for the full 90 minutes as his side, inspired by a Carlos Bacca double, battled from behind to spring a shock 2-1 victory against their opponents from the capital.

As he prepares to clash with Los Blancos at Anfield tonight, the Spaniard insists Liverpool must show complete concentration and attentiveness to every possible danger in order to clinch a result in the Group B contest.

"I'm lucky enough to have played against Madrid for Sevilla," Moreno told Liverpoolfc.com. "We had a bit of a problem against them at the Santiago Bernabeu, where they scored seven times against us. However, things were different in Sevilla, where we beat them 2-1.

"The win brought a new perspective for Sevilla in the league that season. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to get us a place in the Champions League. But I know what to expect. I know they can be lethal on the counter-attack as well as being very good defensively too.

"They've got some of the best players in the world. We have to start the game very alert and concentrated, with the ambition to win all three points. We'll bear in mind that we'll be playing against Real Madrid, but nothing is impossible."

Expanding on the threat Madrid can pose down the flanks - a danger which, if selected, Moreno will be specifically charged with stamping out - the Spaniard admitted an extra focus must be placed on nullifying the visitors' wide menace.

"I believe we all have to pay special attention to their counter-attacks," said the 22-year-old. "Mainly Javier [Manquillo] and I, along with Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique, as we play in defence and we'll be facing those who I think are their best and fastest players, who can win the game for Real Madrid at any moment.

"But if we work well and do the things we know, I believe we can achieve good things on Wednesday - particularly taking our fans into consideration as they'll help us. They will send their positivity from the stands throughout the game for us to keep going and win as many points as possible.

"Any football player would like to play in a game like this, playing for Liverpool against Real Madrid at Anfield. We're ready for them, that's why we're here at this great club. We have to work hard and we have to be very competitive to get the three points out of this game."
