Jordon Ibe produced a sparkling display and netted a fantastic opener as Derby County returned to winning ways with a 3-2 win over Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

After successive defeats in the Championship, Steve McClaren's side bounced back in fine style, with the on-loan Liverpool winger playing a pivotal part in their success.

Ibe broke the deadlock with a beauty, slaloming in from the left before offloading a pass, continuing into the area and side-footing home first time when the ball was returned to him.

Speaking to the official Derby County website, Ibe said: "I enjoyed it last night; it was great to get back on course, getting back to winning ways and picking up the three points.

"It was great from Jeff Hendrick to pull the ball back to me; the hard bit was to finish it. It was great for us to win last night and get back on course ahead of this weekend's game with Wolverhampton.

"It's great to play with these players - I know their movement, and they know mine, so it is great to play alongside them. The whole squad was doing well, it was all about getting back on course and we managed to do that."

The 18-year-old admits he is thoroughly enjoying his spell at the iPro Stadium and also spoke of his gratitude to manager McClaren, who has handed him an opportunity to shine at the club.

Ibe added: "It's been a demanding fixture list, but I am enjoying it because there is a lot of football there for me. At my age, it's great to be playing football.

"It's great here to get the chance to play, under this head coach and this team, I have learned a lot and I am looking forward to what is to come as the season goes on."
