Brendan Rodgers has labelled Chelsea the 'strongest team in the league', but is confident Liverpool can curtail their unbeaten crusade at Anfield on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho's men make the trip to L4 without having suffered defeat yet in the top flight this season, with their 10 encounters producing eight wins and two draws.

The Blues are league leaders with a four-point cushion at the summit, but the last time they travelled to Anfield, it was the Reds who were sitting pretty at the top.

Chelsea were 2-0 victors in that clash in April this year, ending Liverpool's 11-match winning streak, and Rodgers is hoping to turn the tables.

"It's obviously a big game," he said in his pre-match press conference. "In the game last season, we didn't get the result. We performed well for 70 minutes, but we just couldn't get the breakthrough.

"We'll have learned from that. This is a new challenge and obviously it will be a very difficult game for us.

"They are unbeaten and the strongest team at the moment in the league - that's why they're top. But for us playing at Anfield, regardless of the opponent, we have every confidence that we can go and get a good result."

When asked about the threats Chelsea possess, the manager commented: "They were strong last year. They've got players with great experience both domestically and in Europe, which helps them massively.

"Add to that the players that have come in, in [Diego] Costa you have one of the top strikers in the game. And [Cesc] Fabregas is such a creative force while [Eden] Hazard is one of the best young players in the world at the moment."

Rodgers and his technical team will be looking to exploit any potential weaknesses in Chelsea's set-up.

"You always analyse the opponent and see the areas where you can have some joy," he said.

"Defensively, they are strong and play a lot of the game on the counter-attack. Today we have done some work on that and tomorrow we will refine our tactics. And hopefully, it can be a game that can kick-start things for us."
