Liverpool trio Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling were involved as England maintained their 100 per cent record in Euro 2016 qualifying by recovering to beat Slovenia 3-1 on Saturday evening.

The three were named from the start at Wembley as Roy Hodgson's team sought to record a fourth consecutive victory in Group E, which they did only after a brief second-half scare.

A goalless opening period preceded the deadlock-breaker and it arrived from the visitors. Henderson was the unfortunate man to head into his own net under pressure when a free-kick was whipped into the Three Lions' area on 57 minutes.

But within seconds, the home side were level. Wayne Rooney dribbled beyond a succession of Slovenia challenges and was awarded a penalty after eventually being tripped; he took it and levelled.

With three-quarters of the game played, England edged in front and it was partly created by Lallana. The 26-year-old's spin and cross-shot rebounded to Danny Welbeck, who found the far corner despite losing balance.

The striker bagged his country's third too, combining superbly with Sterling at the edge of the penalty box and planting home a finish to ensure that Hodgson's charges stay firmly in control of their section.

Henderson completed the full 90 minutes in London, while Lallana and Sterling were each withdrawn in the closing stages. Anfield teammate Rickie Lambert remained on the substitutes' bench.
