Martin Skrtel and Lazar Markovic were in action for their respective countries on Tuesday night as both Slovakia and Serbia recorded victories in friendly fixtures.

The Slovakians, skippered by Skrtel, notched a sixth consecutive win as they beat Finland 2-1, while Markovic featured for 66 minutes before being substituted in Serbia's 2-0 triumph over Greece.

Skrtel's side stormed to an early two-goal cushion in their tie at the Stadion Pod Dubnom, blitzing their Finnish opposition with a quick-fire brace of goals in what was a frantic start to the game.

They stole ahead with barely a minute on the clock courtesy of Filip Holosko's strike before swiftly doubling the deficit after seven minutes through Napoli's Marek Hamsik.

However, with seconds of added-time remaining at the end of the first half, Finland were celebrating when Slovakia's right-back, Tomas Hubocan, put through his own net.

The visitors applied pressure after the interval as they went in search of an equaliser - but Skrtel and co held firm in Zilina to ensure Jan Kozak's charges extended their winning streak.

Albeit a friendly victory, the win was another reminder of the confidence running through this current Slovakia side, who have made an impressive start to Euro 2016 qualifying, winning four out of four in Group C.

Meanwhile, Markovic operated in a central role behind frontman Radoslav Petrovic as Serbia were victors over the Greeks at the Dimotiko Stadio Perivolion.

Petrovic opened the scoring from a Zoran Tosic assist on the hour mark. Markovic was then withdrawn to be replaced by Danko Lazovic before Nemanja Gudelj netted in injury-time to seal the 2-0 win.

Also on the night, Philippe Coutinho was an unused substitute at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna as Brazil edged Austria 2-1, thanks to strikes from David Luiz and Roberto Firminho.
