Liverpool FC Foundation coaches are in Bulgaria this week to deliver training sessions to local children during the club's visit to Sofia for the Champions League fixture against Ludogorets Razgrad.

In partnership with the British Embassy and UNICEF, the foundation delivered two training sessions today at Park Zaimov in the Bulgarian capital, with 40 children of all abilities from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The participants, who were all selected by UNICEF, were split into two groups of 20 and received an hour-long intensive training session from two fully qualified community coaches.

The sessions are part of the foundation's international provision, which uses the power of football to provide inspirational opportunities to a diverse range of individuals and community groups. Through the support of global partners, the programme delivers professional coaching clinics and educational workshops.

A special reception at the residence of the United Kingdom ambassador was also held on Tuesday evening to welcome the foundation to Bulgaria on their inaugural visit.

More than 100 guests attended the event, including members of government and local businesses, which featured addresses from the ambassador's wife, the embassy, UNICEF and the foundation.

A signed Liverpool jersey, ball and a special edition PlayStation 4 FIFA15 game signed by Daniel Sturridge was donated by the foundation and will be auctioned off to raise funds for UNICEF.

Andrea Cooper, head of the Liverpool FC Foundation, said: "We were delighted to visit Bulgaria for the first time and offer our support to the British Embassy and UNICEF in the delivery of coaching sessions for local children.

"We are dedicated to providing sporting opportunities around the world and establishing a legacy in the countries we visit."
