Kolo Toure reflected on the prospect of eight matches in just 31 days for Liverpool and declared: "Bring it on!"

The Reds began December with a 3-1 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Sunderland at Anfield are next up for Brendan Rodgers' men, before the do-or-die Champions League clash with FC Basel at Anfield.

Clashes with Manchester United, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Burnley and Swansea City will then follow, as well as a return meeting with Leicester on home soil on New Year's Day.

And Toure insists he's relishing the prospect of such a hectic - and important - schedule.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "It's great. I can't wait for it. I'm so excited. It's so fantastic to play those big games. That's why we all love football.

"It's a great opportunity to show how strong Liverpool Football Club is. All the players are looking forward to it and for me, I can't wait; great games coming, great months, playing every two or three days. It's a fantastic month."

With so many matches to contest - including a traditionally hectic Festive calendar - Toure is expecting Rodgers to utilise the depth of his squad in order to keep players fresh.

"That's why we have a group of players," he said. "When you have a lot of players you can rotate and change. That's really important to have a big squad so some people can rest and some can play.

"It's key because when you play every two or three days, it demands a lot physically. Even when you rest somebody, it just helps them be better because it's better to use players who are really fresh rather than a player who is feeling tired and can't give 100 per cent.

"When you can't give 100 per cent, that's no good - as a player, you want to give 100 per cent and be the best you can when you're on the pitch. That's why we have a big squad."

Toure has started each of Liverpool's last three matches after being restored to the line-up for the 2-2 draw with Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria last weekend.

The Ivorian understands, however, the need for Rodgers to keep his players as fresh as possible for the run of matches.

Toure said: "I am part of the team and we are a group of players. The manager has to make decisions and our job is to make sure we're available for the manager anytime he calls upon us. We are part of a group of people, but there is just one manager who needs to pick the team.

"Things go well sometimes and things go bad, but the most important thing is we're all available for the manager to pick the best team.

"For me, I just want the team to win. That's the most important thing. When you play for your club, the target is for everyone. You don't think about yourself - when you start thinking about yourself, you start to become an individual. If you want to be an individual, you don't play football because football is a team game.

"I want to win, I want to make the team get better and if I can help with that, of course I'd be happy to - but if someone can do better than me, then the manager is the one to decide."
