Jordan Henderson crowned his 150th appearance for Liverpool with a goal on Tuesday night and Brendan Rodgers predicts more feats for the midfielder, whose game is "growing all the time."

The Reds manager saluted the 24-year-old ahead of Saturday's top-flight encounter with Sunderland, which is the England international's former club. Henderson has enjoyed inspired form during a three-game unbeaten run across all competitions.

In the 2-2 Champions League draw with Ludogorets Razgrad, the dynamo supplied the assist for Rickie Lambert's goal, before getting on the scoresheet himself. He then donned the captain's armband for the first time in a league game as the Reds secured a 1-0 victory over Stoke City, and was again hitting the back of the net in the 3-1 triumph at King Power Stadium over Leicester City.

"Jordan is a very important player for us. I think everyone has seen in the last season and a half, how much his stature has grown in the team," Rodgers said in his pre-match press conference.

"It's interesting how he plays off the side role that we've given him around the corners of midfield. His ability to run and get beyond gives him and the team a chance to get goals.

"We saw it against Ludogorets and the other night where he's able to get into the box [against Leicester] from the opposite side.

"His game is growing all the time. He's a fantastic lad and it was a great honour for him to lead the team out against Stoke.

"It's something he doesn't take for granted at all. He knows his role here, and it's a very important role."

Henderson has scored three goals across all competitions this season, just two short of his total tally last season.
