Brendan Rodgers is confident Liverpool can get the goals they need to secure Champions League progression, but admits he has considered the prospect of looking towards the Academy ranks for extra reserve firepower against FC Basel.

The boss doesn't expect to have the services of Mario Balotelli available due to injury for the must-win game against the Swiss side, while Daniel Sturridge remains sidelined with a thigh problem.

Speaking at a press conference to preview Tuesday's contest - which the Reds need to triumph in to progress into the knockout phase of the Champions League - Rodgers was asked by journalists whether he'd consider including any of the club's fledgling attacking prospects in his plans.

He replied: "It's something we've looked at. I very much doubt any of the players that weren't available at the weekend will be ready.

"I feel we have goals in the squad but it's certainly something I've thought about in the last couple of days. Some of our young players have been doing very well.

"We'll take the time to assess that. I believe we have enough talent within the group to get the win."
