Jordan Henderson plans to 'give it everything' in his efforts to further build on a personal journey that carried the midfielder to Liverpool vice-captaincy at the outset of his fourth season with the club.

Having arrived on Merseyside in the summer of 2011, the No.14's obvious talent truly began to blossom in the last campaign as he proved integral in the Reds' run to second place in the Barclays Premier League.

Energy and tactical awareness were prime attributes that made Henderson a regular for Brendan Rodgers, while his capacity to both tee up teammates and find the back of the net himself increased too.

Such was the Englishman's development that, after representing his country at the World Cup in Brazil, he was selected as the new deputy to Steven Gerrard in the fledgling weeks of 2014-15.

The 24-year-old has since had the privilege of leading Liverpool out as skipper on three occasions, including recent Premier League encounters against Stoke City and Sunderland at Anfield.

"It was a huge honour and still is," Henderson said of his role, in a special edition of LFCTV HD's '60 Minutes With...' series that can be watched in full by clicking play below.

"Obviously I know there's only one captain and Stevie is our leader and our role model. I've always said he's probably the best captain in football and everybody looks up to him.

"I feel I have learned a lot from him. I just try to continue to learn from him - on the field or off it. As vice-captain, I try to give him support if he ever needs it.

"I've only been here for a short space of time and I feel there's still a lot more to come. Hopefully in the future I do have a big impact but I've got a lot of work to do. I'll give it everything I've got to get there."
