Dunn nets as U21s claim Norwich draw
Jack Dunn fired the equaliser as Liverpool U21s drew 1-1 with Norwich City in front of a crowd of 8,000 at Carrow Road on Wednesday night.
It was Michael Beale's side's first league fixture since a 2-1 win over Tottenham on October 31, and a spirited second-half display ensured they earned a share of the spoils.
Marc Pelosi played his first 90 minutes for some time as he gets back to full fitness.
Norwich fielded senior players Ryan Benett, Ignasi Miquel and Javier Garrido for the contest and Jamar Loza gave the hosts the lead with a fine solo effort.
However, Dunn, playing his first 90 minutes since returning from injury, grabbed the deserved equaliser after a goalmouth scramble.
Reflecting on the draw, Beale told Liverpoolfc.com: "Norwich were a very good side with several players in action who have played for the first team, and I was delighted with the way our players performed.
"It was a great atmosphere with over 8,000 supporters turning out which was fantastic and we took a lot from the game.
"It was great to see Jack score because that was his first 90 minutes since April. He looked sharp and was a constant threat and hopefully he can push on for us now.
"It was also very pleasing to give Pelosi 90 minutes and he did very well, and I thought Kevin Stewart was excellent in a new midfield role in the absence of Jordan Rossiter who played for the youth team on Monday.
"Sheyi Ojo came on for the second half and was excellent as was Ryan Kent when he came on. We didn't want the final whistle at the end because we were pushing hard for the win."
Liverpool U21s: Ward, McLaughlin, Maguire (Kent 75), Cleary, Jones, Stewart, Pelosi, Trickett-Smith (Ojo 45), Dunn, Brannagan, Smith.
