Players from Liverpool's U18 and U21 teams paid a special visit to Alder Hey children's hospital on Thursday afternoon to raise festive cheer ahead of Christmas and put a smile on the faces of the young patients.

The likes of Tom Brewitt, Jordan Lussey, Jordan Rossiter and Jerome Sinclair were among the contingent of Academy talents who spent time on the wards at the West Derby centre, speaking to the children currently there.

Their visit followed on from that of the Reds' first team - manager Brendan Rodgers, Steven Gerrard and the rest of the senior squad spread a touch of happiness and distributed goody bags at Alder Hey one week ago.

A donation was also made to the hospital on behalf of the Academy, using funds raised from the Stephen Packer Tournament. One youngster from the base in Kirkby, James Berry, was chosen to hand over the cheque after helping on the day of the memorial competition.
