German group continue LFC friendship
A group of Borussia Moenchengladbach supporters have arrived on Merseyside for a 22nd time to continue a relationship with Liverpool Football Club which has thrived since their maiden visit in 1992.
Representing BMG Fan Projekt, the German side's official supporters' club, the travellers will support the Reds at Anfield over the festive period during the Bundesliga winter break.
The mutual friendship between the two teams started during the 1970s when the Reds met Moenchengladbach in three European clashes, beginning with the 1973 UEFA Cup final.
In an unforgettable gesture following the Hillsborough disaster, Borussia supporters donated approximately £7,000 to the families of the 96 who lost their lives at the tragedy in 1989.
A number of Liverpool fans conduct an annual return journey of friendship to Moenchengladbach, with a ninth trip planned in the spring of 2015 currently being organised by Graham Agg.
