Watching on as Liverpool handsomely defeated Swansea City at Anfield on Monday evening was former vice-captain Daniel Agger, who visited the LFCTV HD studios pre-match for an exclusive catch-up.

The Danish defender said farewell to the Reds in the summer after almost nine years with the club, completing a move back to his homeland and Brondby, where his career had originally started.

By the time of his departure, fan favourite Agger had made 232 appearances for Liverpool and scored 14 goals, lifting a single piece of silverware here - the League Cup in 2011-12.

With the Danish Superliga currently paused for a winter break, the 30-year-old returned to Anfield just in time to see Brendan Rodgers' side produce one of their most encouraging performances of the campaign by beating Swansea 4-1.

Ahead of kick-off, Agger spoke to the Reds' official television channel from inside the stadium, reflecting on his time on Merseyside, last season's Barclays Premier League title challenge and what his future holds.

"I miss it more than I expected," he said of his feelings for the club and city. "Just being back in Liverpool, the city, has been good for me. I have really missed it. After almost nine years [here], it's just good to be back."
