After a productive December for Liverpool, it is now time to nominate your Standard Chartered Player of the Month, with three contenders to choose from – Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling.

The Reds had to navigate eight fixtures in three different competitions across the 31 days and kicked off their demanding schedule with a comeback 3-1 victory at Leicester City.

They were subsequently frustrated by consecutive draws against Sunderland and FC Basel, with the latter forcing elimination from the Champions League. An away defeat by Manchester United followed.

But from there, Brendan Rodgers' side were much improved - overcoming Bournemouth 3-1 to progress to the Capital One Cup last four and producing a performance at home to Arsenal that deserved more than a 2-2 scoreline.

A battling display at Burnley on Boxing Day brought the reward of three points and it was the same final outcome, but in thoroughly comprehensive fashion, when Swansea City were thrashed 4-1 at Anfield.

Coutinho was a relentless creative presence in that fixture and indeed throughout December. He started six matches, appeared in seven and scored a sublime opener during the draw with the Gunners.

The Brazilian is named on the three-man shortlist selected for this Standard Chartered-sponsored monthly accolade by a Liverpoolfc.com panel, which also includes his fellow attacker Lallana.

Seven starts for the summer signing were punctuated by now trademark industry and work-rate, while his month was bookended by a brilliantly-taken equaliser at Leicester and a memorable brace beyond the Swans.

The third player in contention is Sterling, who spent much of December in a central attacking role. The 20-year-old began every single game and returned to goalscoring form with a decisive double in the cup and the winner at Turf Moor.

But which of the trio gets your vote? Have a say on the outcome now, with two methods available. Either make your selection in our online poll here or participate via the official @LFC Twitter profile.

The recipient of the trophy will be the man with the highest combined total and collect the honour during a special presentation at Melwood in the near future.
