Liverpool start 2015 by hosting Leicester City at Anfield today - and here we bring you a selection of interesting facts and figures ahead of the match.
The sides met at the King Power Stadium 30 days ago with Liverpool coming from behind to win 3-1. Simon Mignolet was credited with an own goal before Adam Lallana equalised on 26 minutes. Steven Gerrard put the Reds in front and Jordan Henderson added a third with seven minutes remaining.
Lallana's goal at Leicester last month was the 600th scored away from home by the Reds in the Premier League.
The last Anfield meeting saw Liverpool run out 2-1 winners in September 2003 with goals from Michael Owen (penalty) and Foxes' old boy Emile Heskey. Marcus Bent scored a late consolation for the visitors. Steven Gerrard was in the Reds side.
Liverpool are unbeaten in the last five league clashes against Leicester since losing 2-0 at Filbert Street in March 2001. Of the eight Premier League meetings at Anfield, they have won four and lost three.
Our biggest win over Leicester at Anfield is the 5-1 scoreline recorded in both 1934-35 and 1976-77. The Foxes' most comprehensive victory here came in 1925-26 when they won 3-0.
Jordan Henderson could play the 250th club game of his career today in all competitions.
In 2014, Liverpool amassed 76 points from 38 league games - two points-per-game average. Only once since 1990 have they recorded a better points-per-game average - in 2008 their average was 2.15.
The defeat of Swansea on Monday saw Brendan Rodgers record 50 league wins as Reds boss in 95 games. Only three Liverpool managers have reached the landmark in fewer games - Kenny Dalglish 85, Bill Shankly 90 and Rafa Benitez in 93. Bob Paisley also achieved the feat in 95 matches.
Liverpool could record a third successive league victory for the first time since April. They have not won back-to-back league games at Anfield since defeating Newcastle and Southampton on the last day of last season and the first weekend of this campaign, respectively.
This will be Liverpool's 50th New Year's Day fixture. They have won 26, drawn 11 and suffered 12 defeats.
Reds captain Steven Gerrard and Foxes striker David Nugent went to the same Liverpool school - Cardinal Heenan in West Derby.
Leicester's Esteban Cambiasso won a treble with Inter Milan in 2010 including the Champions League and was a teammate of Mario Balotelli. The Argentinian was in the Inter side beaten twice by Liverpool in 2008.
City have played at Anfield on New Year's Day once before, earning a 1-1 draw in 1974. Liverpool were trailing to Keith Weller's goal until Peter Cormack equalised in the second half. That season the Reds went on to lift the FA Cup.
Leicester have won their last three New Year's Day fixtures. A year ago they won 3-1 at Millwall and in 2013 they beat Huddersfield 6-1 at home. On the first day of 2011 they won 1-0 at Hull.
The Foxes have lost eight of their 10 away league games this season. The exceptions being two 1-0 victories over Stoke in September with Leonardo Ulloa scoring the goal and last Sunday's triumph at Hull thanks to a Riyad Mahrez winner.
Leicester have scored beyond the 48th minute in only one of the last 14 games and have conceded at least two goals in five of the last seven matches.
