Toure: We will work on what went wrong
Kolo Toure admitted the disappointment in Liverpool's failure to protect a lead against Leicester City on New Year's Day and pledged that the players will work on managing such situations much better.
Aiming for a third straight win, the Reds were 2-0 ahead by half-time in the Barclays Premier League fixture at Anfield after Steven Gerrard had converted a pair of penalties, both awarded for handball.
But the Foxes struck back with two goals in as many minutes in the second half - each well taken by David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp from distance - to stun Brendan Rodgers' side and take a point.
"We are disappointed because we were winning 2-0 and let the other team come back to 2-2 - that's not good enough," Toure reflected to Liverpoolfc.com following the final whistle.
"We are not happy because we could have managed the game better. We didn't keep up the pressure. When you play against a team like Leicester, you know they will fight until the end of the game.
"In the second half, you have to attack brightly and be compact, trying to hit them on the counter-attack - which we didn't do. Every game is very tough, but that's why we need to be more intelligent.
"Be clever in managing the game better, passing the ball and then hitting on the counter-attack. We will work again, there is another game coming. We have to forget about this game, try to focus and win the next game."
The match the Ivorian defender referred to is the FA Cup third round tie at AFC Wimbledon on Monday evening, with the League Two outfit set to pose an altogether different challenge.
"It's going to be a tough game, we expect that," said Toure, a winner of the competition earlier in his career. "We will focus and recover well.
"There is fatigue but that's where mentally you have to be tough, fight for every ball and fight against a team like that. I'm sure it's going to be a good game to watch and we'll definitely be up for the fight."
