Today's announcement means that the summer will herald an end to the Huyton-born midfielder's glittering 17-year Anfield career, in which Gerrard has made 695 appearances for the Reds to date.
We also chart the rise of Huyton's finest from his days learning to play 'the Liverpool Way' at the Academy, through to becoming club captain and scoring iconic goals in front of the Kop.
