Sergi Canos fired two memorable goals as Liverpool U18s qualified for the quarter-finals of the Frenz International Cup in Indonesia with a 2-0 win over Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande on Monday.

After Saturday's incredible 6-5 victory against Frenz United Indonesia, Neil Critchley's team maintained their 100 per cent record in the competition with another impressive performance.

Following a goalless first half, Guangzhou started brightly in the second period and missed a glorious opportunity to take the lead. Lin Zewen hit the post with a swerving drive and, from the rebound, Xie Weijun could only fire wide of an open goal.

Critchley's charges were more clinical on 64 minutes with a truly magnificent goal from Canos. Captain Harry Wilson picked out the Spaniard at the back post, who promptly found the net with a perfectly executed volley.

Canos then put the game beyond doubt on 75 minutes; the excellent Wade Maxwell won the ball in midfield and fed Wilson, who slid a perfect pass into Canos to drill home an unstoppable drive.

Liverpool team: Jackson, Lewis, Owens (Maxwell 45), Johnson, Whelan (Travis 80), Brewitt, Madger Gomes, Canos, Dobie (Nicholas 76), Toni Gomes, Wilson.
