Lazar Markovic may only have been a Liverpool player for six months, but the Serbian winger is already feeling more than comfortable on Merseyside.

It was in July 2014 that the Reds swooped to capture the signature of a 20-year-old considered by many to be one of Europe's brightest young talents.

Kopites have been treated to glimpses of that potential so far, particularly during a Man of the Match showing against Sunderland last weekend.

A significant part of the platform for Markovic to perform at his best has been the support he has received from his teammates in the dressing room.

Their help on and off the pitch has allowed the flying wide-man to settle into a different country and new league quickly and ensure he feels right at home.

"They have all been extremely helpful, they have helped me settle in and they are still helping me," the No.50 told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood.

"There is no end to the help that I have been receiving from them, and also the supporters have been very helpful. I am thankful to everybody.

"I knew right at the beginning that this is going to be my home for the future. I feel at home already here."

Brendan Rodgers has utilised Markovic in a variety of positions across his 19 appearances for the club since a summer switch from Portuguese giants Benfica.

Nominally an attacker capable of troubling defences from either flank, the Serbia international has recently been fielded at wing-back in a 3-4-3 system.

While much of Saturday's post-match analysis centred on his goal and thunderous volley onto the crossbar, the boss pointed to the defensive work undertaken too.

Markovic is embracing the subtle alterations required with each change of role and believes he is growing with every passing day on the training field.

He said: "I can play in different positions and I like playing different positions. The manager knows best so I am prepared to be guided by him on what is the best position for me.

"I like challenges like that. I am learning every day, I am building and adding up my knowledge. I think I'm getting better and better every day."
