Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler will be helping aspiring young players try to achieve their ultimate dream when he opens his new education and football academy on Merseyside.

The iconic Anfield No.9 revealed his plans on his official Twitter page on Sunday night when he wrote on @Robbie9Fowler: "Hopefully the start of something special... @fefaUK."

Fowler will work alongside former professional footballer and education specialist Brian McGorry to deliver the new course to around 60 local youngsters aged between 16 and 19.

The football and sport science course will teach a raft of qualifications such as sport and exercise science levels two and three, FA coaching, gym instructor, personal trainer and lifeguard qualifications. There is also a section covering enterprise and entrepreneurship.

Speaking about his new venture, Fowler said: "I am passionate about helping young people to receive the best of both worlds; a great academic and football education. The teaching and coaching will be fantastic and we want to inspire them to achieve their best."

The academy will offer courses for students who want an outstanding education and a top-class football academy.

Its website says the football coaching, support and evaluation will be among the best and they will be following the EPPP (youth development scheme) as laid down by the Barclays Premier League for their scholars.

It also promises access to match analysts, guest speakers such as top Premier League coaches, sport psychologists, strength and conditioning coaches as well as ex-Liverpool and Everton players.

The Fowler Education and Football Academy will be holding open days over the next few months. Click here to find out more.
