The sight of Chelsea running out at Anfield tonight will bring back a special personal memory for Emre Can, but he'd be more than willing to trade a repeat of any such individual glory for a positive Liverpool result.

The German notched the only goal of his Reds career to date when the Londoners visited L4 for a Barclays Premier League meeting in November.

Ultimately, it proved little more than a consolation as Chelsea recorded a 2-1 win, but Can admits the sensation of seeing the ball hit the back of the Anfield Road End net will live long in his memory.

Nonetheless, a victory tonight and a step closer to March's Wembley showpiece is what the 21-year-old is desperate for this evening.

"It was incredible, you can't describe it," Can told Liverpoolfc.com reflecting on the emotion of that goal. "I scored the goal and I think it's the best feeling as a player you could ever have.

"To be honest I was thinking about this in the car the other day; I scored the goal against Chelsea and it would be great to repeat that again this time, but the most important thing is to beat them.

"Hopefully we will do that - we will give everything in this cup tie."

If Liverpool can overcome Chelsea over the course of the two legs, it will set up a Capital One Cup final showdown with Tottenham Hotspur or Sheffield United at Wembley.

Can has already experienced the national stadium from a spectator's point of view - and it whetted his appetite for the prospect of playing there.

"I have had the fortune to be at Wembley once before," he explained. "I didn't play myself but I watched Bayern against Dortmund [2013 Champions League final].

"It's an incredible stadium and I want to play there. I hope we can get there by winning the semi-final."
