Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling agree that Liverpool have rediscovered their identity in recent months but the final product must now be added to generate maximum results.

The pair have been key figures in an upturn in form that saw the Reds record a 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions until a trip to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

In the second leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final with Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers' side were once more defensively resolute and confidently creative in the attacking third.

Wasted chances proved costly, though, and an extra-time header from Branislav Ivanovic secured a 2-1 aggregate result for the Blues and with it a place at Wembley in the showpiece.

Nevertheless, Rodgers insisted there were plenty of positives to bring back to Merseyside - with the Reds still competing in the Barclays Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

Vice-captain Henderson echoed the sentiments of the Northern Irishman, before highlighting that what is now required is a clinical touch in the opposition penalty area.

The No.14, who has three goals this season, told Liverpoolfc.com: "We have been playing very well; there's a lot of confidence in the team at the minute.

"Over the last couple of months, we feel we have been back to the way that we know we can play. Our intensity is really good and we're keeping the ball well. It's just the final bit in the final third that we need to improve on."

Sterling added: "You can see the confidence in everyone. Everyone is playing a massive role for the team, players coming off the bench and making impacts like Rickie [Lambert] did away at Villa.

"You can see confidence is slowly but surely getting back and we're playing some really good football. Hopefully we can continue winning games.

"Every single player on the pitch, all 11 players, wanting the ball and wanting to make angles, getting on the ball and trying to create things - that has been Liverpool over the last couple of years and that's what has really come back into our game and got our rhythm back."
