Adam Lallana replaces Steven Gerrard in the single change to the Liverpool line-up for today's clash with West Ham United – and Daniel Sturridge returns to the squad as a substitute.

Brendan Rodgers has opted for one alteration to the XI that started at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, with the captain not included in the 18 for this Barclays Premier League fixture.

Jordan Henderson therefore takes the armband to tackle the Hammers and Gerrard must wait to make his 700th club appearance. Lallana joins Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in attack.

Notably, Sturridge is named on the bench as he approaches a first run-out for the Reds since last August. There are spots for Fabio Borini and Jordon Ibe too.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Henderson, Lucas, Moreno, Markovic, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling.

Substitutes: Ward, Johnson, Lambert, Sturridge, Allen, Borini, Ibe.
