Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho admitted he would need more practice to match the abilities of Merseyside Blind FC after meeting members of their squad to raise awareness of Standard Chartered's 'Seeing is Believing' campaign.

The global charitable initiative of the club's main sponsor aims to tackle avoidable blindness around the world in an attempt to transform the lives of children and adults.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Reds are wholly supporting the cause and will swap to a 'Seeing is Believing' logo on the front of their shirts when they host Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday February 10.

Ahead of a fortnight of activity around that 'Perfect Match', a quartet of first-team stars - Steven Gerrard, Adam Lallana, Simon Mignolet and Sakho - welcomed players from Merseyside Blind FC for a unique training session at Melwood.

There, the four blindfolded players had their professional football skills put to the test, while the visitors guided them on how to pass and control the ball, as well as strike a penalty, in those new and unorthodox circumstances.

"It was a very good experience," reflected French centre-back Sakho, who has dedicated many hours to charitable causes since arriving on Merseyside in September 2013.

"It was different for us - you can't see the ball, but you have to concentrate and stay focused while listening to your partner. All of the players played very well. We'll need more training!"
