Adam Lallana took a crumb of comfort during a recent injury lay-off from the chance to sit back and enjoy the thrilling form of Liverpool colleague Philippe Coutinho.

Yesterday, the Brazilian playmaker capped two months of remarkably consistent performances for the Reds by signing a new, long-term contract with the club.

Two assists from the No.10 at the weekend helped Brendan Rodgers' side clock up a third straight Barclays Premier League win by beating West Ham United 2-0.

His display was merely the latest in a string of showings that have encompassed everything so appealing about Coutinho - vision, technique, control and creativity.

"The little magician, as people call him, has been outstanding," Lallana enthused to Liverpoolfc.com. "I was injured for a couple of weeks and got to watch him from the stand.

"His natural ability is frightening and it's great to see. It's great to be on the pitch with players like that. He'll keep providing for the likes of Raheem [Sterling] and now [Daniel] Sturridge is back.

"I'm sure they're really excited, because he's at the top of his game and he's always going to be a match-winning player for us."
