It was the moment that announced Alberto Moreno to Liverpool supporters – and the Spaniard is dreaming of producing another strike to savour against Tottenham Hotspur tonight.

The Reds turned in one of their finest performances of the season to date when the sides met at White Hart Lane back in August, running out 3-0 winners in north London.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Steven Gerrard (penalty) had given Brendan Rodgers' men a healthy two-goal lead, but it was the sight of Moreno gliding down the left wing like an Olympic sprinter before drilling beyond Hugo Lloris that captured the imagination most.

Naturally, it's a moment the 22-year-old recalls with fondness.

"I remember they were in possession of the ball and I pressured their player and took the ball away from him," Moreno told Liverpoolfc.com. "Then I remember I started running from our half and carried the ball on and on towards the goal.

"Suddenly, I realised I had a clear view of the goal in front of me, so then I got nearer the box and took the shot to score.

"The first thing that came into my mind after scoring was to celebrate that goal with the fans. They had gone to London to support us and so they deserved it. That's why I did what I did as I wanted to dedicate that strike to them.

"It was a special game for me as I scored my first goal in the Premier League and my first goal for Liverpool.

"It helped me a lot to improve my confidence here and also for the fans to know a bit more about myself. It was a beautiful game which I'll never forget and will always remember.

"Tonight's game will certainly bring back memories from that match. We'll have to do our best to win it, which is the most important thing - and it would be even better for me if I scored another goal!"

Liverpool head into tonight's fixture boasting an unbeaten run of eight matches in the Barclays Premier League. Indeed, they haven't conceded a goal in their last four outings in the division.

Moreno accepts their performance away to Spurs remains one of the season's highlights, but is confident similar displays will be conjured up between now and May.

He said: "We've been having very good games lately but that was one of the best displays we've had this season - winning 3-0 away from home is a magnificent achievement.

"After that game, we had some very hard-fought ones which we couldn't get the result we wanted, unfortunately.

"There have been a lot of games we've played and we've strived hard to deliver the intensity the manager wants us to have. There are so many games to play and so we have to be strong - as we have been lately.

"It's true we are in a very good moment. We have been achieving better results and it's a shame we couldn't beat Chelsea in the Capital One Cup - but we have to move forward because we have the FA Cup and the Europa League ahead.

"I think the dressing room is very confident at the moment and there is a good feeling - we have to take advantage of this and keep up the form for the forthcoming games."
