Raheem Sterling's stunning solo effort against Chelsea in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final has been voted by fans as Liverpool's Goal of the Month for January, in association with EA SPORTS.

With the Reds trailing to Eden Hazard's penalty, Liverpool's No.31 picked up the ball just beyond the halfway line and set off on a brilliant run that ended with a superb finish at the Kop end.

Though the memorable strike was ultimately not enough to prevent elimination from the tournament over two legs, the slaloming effort received 37 per cent of the nominations in our online supporters' poll to take the accolade.

Steven Gerrard's stunning free-kick in the FA Cup third round victory at AFC Wimbledon finished runner up with 17 per cent, while Daniel Sturridge's comeback goal against West Ham United came third with 11 per cent.

Completing the top five in the results, whittled down from a 10-goal shortlist, was Gerrard's opening header against AFC Wimbledon and Sterling's strike following an exquisite flick from Philippe Coutinho against West Ham.
