Emre Can insists Liverpool head to Crystal Palace today with a point to prove – and won't be harbouring any thoughts of the frustrations endured on their last two visits to Selhurst Park.

The Reds take on the Eagles in an FA Cup fifth round tie at the scene of what Brendan Rodgers has described as the low point of their season so far.

His side were beaten 3-1 by Palace in a Barclays Premier League meeting in London back in November, while last season's visit to Selhurst Park saw Liverpool's title hopes dealt a huge blow as they surrendered a three-goal lead to draw 3-3.

Nonetheless, Can is adamant the Reds won't be thinking about previous disappointments at the stadium come kick-off as they aim to bolster their chances of going all the way in the tournament.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "We definitely won't be thinking about that. We've just got to think about the game and go on and try to win it, rather than think about anything that's happened in the past. We want to win and go through.

"I think when we lost 3-1 at Crystal Palace we were on a bad run. We weren't on form and we were at a development stage. Now it is completely different - we are playing in a different way with a different line-up.

"Perhaps it wasn't our day, but the way we played wasn't quite right. Now it is completely different. That's how we want to show ourselves on Saturday.

"We want to go there and win. It is a cup game and we will give 100 per cent to try to win it and go through to the next round."

Can has added motivation to try to help Liverpool make May's FA Cup final.

The 21-year-old was present at Wembley for the 2013 Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and he's itching to get his own opportunity to play at the national stadium.

"It's a very well respected stadium back in Germany," explained Can. "The final of the Champions League was there in 2013 and I was there, but didn't play.

"It's a great stadium and we want to get there, all of us, so we've got to win the game at Palace and get nearer to achieving the target of getting to the final at that great stadium.

"I've followed the FA Cup since I was a kid. It's a great cup competition and there's a great chance to get to the final.

"That's our target, so we've got to go and win the game on Saturday."
